DEVAN DUBNYK
As a proud husband and father, Devan has always approached life and his career with dedication, integrity, and a drive to lead by example. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, and raised in Calgary, Alberta, he was fortunate to live his dream as a professional hockey goaltender for 12 seasons in the NHL. Drafted 14th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in 2004, he had the privilege of playing for teams like the Oilers, Nashville Predators, Arizona Coyotes, Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks, and Colorado Avalanche.
His journey included highlights such as earning the Bill Masterton Trophy for perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication in 2014–15, and a career-high 40 wins with the Minnesota Wild in 2016–17. These experiences taught him the value of resilience, teamwork, and excellence—lessons he now strives to share with the next generation.
After retiring in 2022, he took on a two-year term as an NHL analyst, sharing insights and experiences from his career with audiences across North America. While this chapter honed his communication skills and love for storytelling, his focus has since shifted to his true passion: developing youth through athletics.
He currently works with young goaltenders as a mentor, consultant, and coach, helping them sharpen their skills on and off the ice. His approach emphasizes not just technical excellence but also the mental and emotional resilience required to succeed in competitive environments. He believes in empowering young athletes to see their potential and to carry these lessons into every facet of their lives.
Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and a natural ability to inspire have always been central to his leadership style. Whether mentoring young goalies, collaborating with community organizations, or building new opportunities, he is driven to make a lasting impact and create a legacy rooted in passion, perseverance, and empowerment.
