As the 2015 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy winner for dedication and perseverance, Devan brings firsthand experience of nearly every challenge a hockey player can face. Having recently retired, he has played alongside and against most of today’s NHL stars, ensuring his coaching techniques and training philosophies are fully aligned with the modern game. Over the past three years, Devan has also shared his insights as an NHL Network analyst and continues to stay involved in the sport through podcasts and other analyst roles.

Devan was first introduced to the concept of head tracking before the 2014–15 NHL season. From that point on, he worked closely with Lyle Mast — the visionary behind the technique — throughout the remainder of his playing career. After years of studying and applying this method to his own game, Devan is now passionate about passing it on to the next generation of goalies. Head tracking is a foundational skill that impacts every aspect of the position, and Devan is committed to helping young goalies understand and apply it effectively.

As part of the program, each goalie will receive a pair of TracOptics goggles — a specialized proprietary training tool not yet available to the public, designed to develop proper visual focus and puck tracking habits. When combined with Devan’s firsthand experience and personalized coaching, this offers a rare and powerful learning opportunity not commonly available in most training environments.
